Central Railway Apprentice Selection Process 2025
The selection of candidates will be done on the basis of a merit list.
The merit list will be prepared by taking the average marks of Class 10th and ITI.
It will not be based only on 10th marks or only on ITI marks – both will be considered together.
How Class 10th (Matric) marks will be counted:
- The total marks of all subjects will be taken.
- “Best of five” or subject-wise selection will not be considered.
How ITI marks will be counted:
- Marks of all semesters mentioned in the ITI mark sheet will be considered.
- Only the final trade certificate issued by NCVT/SCVT will be valid.
Tie-breaking rules:
- If two candidates have the same average marks, the older candidate will be given preference.
- If age is also the same, then the candidate who passed Class 10th earlier will get priority.
Merit List Preparation:
- The merit list will be prepared separately for each cluster/unit, trade, category, and quota.
- The number of candidates in each list will be according to the available seats plus the waiting list.

Documents Required to Upload
Candidates must upload clear scanned copies of the following documents:
- 10th Class Marksheet (SSC or equivalent).
- Proof of Date of Birth (10th certificate/marksheet showing DOB or school leaving certificate).
- All Semester Marksheet or Provisional National Trade Certificate with marks.
- National Trade Certificate (NCVT/SCVT) or Provisional Certificate.
- Caste Certificate (for SC/ST/OBC candidates, if applicable).
- Disability Certificate (for PwBD candidates).
- Ex-Servicemen Certificate (Discharge/Serving certificate, if applicable).
